Dear Residents and Families,
Welcome to our May newsletter! As we transition into warmer weather, we have a lot of exciting events and activities planned for this month. Read on to learn more!
Our first week of May includes a cultural appreciation of our neighbors to the south to celebrate Cinco de Mayo! We will make a piñata as the featured craft of the week, go to the new Mexican Market in Grass Valley and celebrate with tostada bowls on the big day! Our residents decided our piñata will resemble a strawberry, so stay tuned to see the completion of the juicy paper mache fruit!
Then, that’s not all for our first week! Sierra View will be hosting a double viewing party on May 6th to celebrate the Kentucky Derby and Coronation! Join us for mint julips and wear your best fancy hat! Festivities will start at 3:30pm on Saturday.
We are thrilled to be celebrating Mother's Day on May 14th at 3:30pm. We will be hosting a special tea for our residents and their families. We will also be honoring our veterans and those who have lost their lives serving our country on Memorial Day, May 29th with an outdoor BBQ picnic on the patio.
On May 17th our kitchen staff will be serving room service. So enjoy breakfast in bed with your PJ’s on and soak in the luxurious experience of room to room breakfast service! We hope you enjoy the pampering and we look forward to seeing you in the dining room for lunch time at 12:30pm. Coffee, breakfast and utensils will be provided as usual.
Spring Cleaning:
With the arrival of spring, now is a great time to declutter and freshen up your living space. Here are some tips for spring cleaning:
Go space by space and declutter unnecessary items
Deep clean surfaces and floors
Donate any gently used items to charity (Bridget and Sandy will collect and take away)
We encourage residents to take advantage of the beautiful weather by enjoying outdoor activities like bird watching, walking, or sunbathing in our garden. Our staff can help assist you in finding an outdoor activity that's right for you!
Resident Spotlight:
This month, we are shining a spotlight on one of our inspiring residents, Mary Anne. Mary Anne enjoys visiting and socializing. She is 101 years old and is amazed by the progress our country has made. She says her father was one of those people that loved trains, planes and automobiles and the progress of transportation over the years is something that inspires her today. She is also an active participant in the resident council and enjoys spending time with her friends in the dining room.
Thank you for reading, and we hope you have a beautiful month in May!
Best wishes,
Sierra View Living
